Exploring Jordan: A Journey Through Photos

The Middle East. Birthplace of civilizations and religions. And I am convinced of hospitality, too.

Even in the most remote corner of Wadi Rum, you will find a friendly Bedouin inviting you to sit down and enjoy a cup of tea. Shukran to all the lovely people from Jordan we’ve met along the way. There are so many photos I want to share. I'm not convinced I will ever get around to it. Maybe over a cup of chai - that seems like the best idea.

Scuba Diving in Aqaba: Underwater Military Museum

We started our adventure in Aqaba, diving in the Red Sea's clear waters. The underwater military museum is a fascinating site with sunken military vehicles like tanks and helicopters, which have turned into artificial reefs. The marine life around these structures is amazing to see.

Hiking with a Bedouin in Wadi Rum

Next, we headed to Wadi Rum, known as the Valley of the Moon. We hiked with a Bedouin guide, who showed us the incredible desert landscape and ancient rock carvings. Hearing the guide’s stories about the area made the hike even more special.

Petra by Night

A visit to Jordan wouldn't be complete without seeing Petra. We experienced Petra by night, walking through the narrow Siq to the Treasury, lit up by thousands of candles. This ancient city, carved into red cliffs, dates back to the 4th century BC and was the Nabataean kingdom's capital. Seeing the Treasury illuminated at night was unforgettable.

Wildlife and Camels

While we didn't see much wildlife, we did come across camels and sheep, essential to the desert way of life. The camels, especially, with their iconic silhouettes against the sunset, are a big part of Jordan's cultural landscape.

Hiking in Dana Nature Reserve

Dana Nature Reserve was a different experience with its green landscapes and diverse wildlife. Hiking here, we saw beautiful views and enjoyed the natural surroundings. The trails range from easy walks to more challenging hikes, so there's something for everyone.

Street Photography in Amman

Our trip ended in Amman, Jordan’s busy capital. Street photography here was a highlight, capturing the everyday life of the city. From lively markets to historical sites, Amman blends old and new in a fascinating way. Meeting the locals, trying the food, and exploring the city made for a memorable end to our journey.

Jordan, with its mix of history, stunning landscapes, and friendly people, left a lasting impression on me. These photos capture some of the best moments of our trip and the incredible places we visited.
